Fort Street 76-78 future events – save the dates!

Hi everyone.

This is the first communication in several years pertaining to our school year and of course we have had a few global events in between to keep us ‘amused’.

Sadly, we are aware some of our number are now longer with us (Fiona Power, George Katsouras) and we are mindful that we rapidly approach 6 years since our weekend gathering in 2018. If you want a memory jog visit our website - https://www.fortstreet7678.org/

Also, there is something of an event occurring, in that our school is 175 years old! Details of a ‘focus event’ on this is below – Fort Fest 2024. Whilst we have nothing to do with this in terms of operation, we put it up here if individually there is interest in attending.

We have decided to hold two events (we realise that we have to offer options as we all seem to run rather busy lives) and ask that you save the dates:

  • Friday 15th November 2024 – School Assembly, new school museum visit (see our year cabinet) and then Saturday 16th November a ‘mini reunion’– Oxford Hotel Drummoyne

  • Friday 14th November 2025 and weekend 15th and 16th November 2025 – School Assembly, new school museum visit (see our year cabinet) and then a weekend of ‘revisiting places and activities of our teenage years’! A more formal reunion will be conducted on the evening of the 15th November 2025.

We will send out more information on these as they approach and will seek to get indications of attendance.

Email addresses within our database, we suspect, have many attached to places of employment and it seems quite a few of our number are ‘transitioning towards retirement as mid 60 something’s’. We realise there are contact networks still operative amongst many of you and apart from getting clear bounce backs, we are going to need your help to update this all.

Bear with us whilst we go on this ‘data journey’. Also, wish to confirm that this database is kept private and can only be accessed by Phil Walsh and myself. We are doing our best to steward good security over this.

We are aware that our year has a special sense of connection which is quite rare. Affording everyone the opportunity to revisit those times is a privilege.

We look forward to seeing you at one of these events.

All the best.

Fort Fest 2024

Save the date! Friday September 202024 it's Fort Fest time!

Come along from 3.15pm - 8pm for a wonderful evening.

There will be international food stalls, including sweet treats, soft drinks, bubble tea, ice cream floaters, gelato.

Test your skills at Side Show Alley and win a prize. In the Challenge Zone join the fun and try out bubble soccer, giant darts, pinball machines, air hockey or King of the hammer!

If you're feeling competitive, take part in one of the tournaments - table tennis, chess and Clash Royale.

There will also be stalls where you can purchase 175 Year Anniversary merchandise, second hand books & games, plants, and even second hand uniforms.

Round out your time at Fort Fest with school & museum tours, take a snap in the photo booth and then relax in the quad and enjoy the wonderful entertainment provided by the Fort Street IMP.

This Fort Fest will also celebrate the 175 years of Fort Street High School, so it will be one not to miss.
